Blues for Hari performed by Emil Richards
|
| |
| | : Kudos for rep'n mister Richards! I love this track!
This is from the awsome "New Time Element" LP he did for UNI.The whole record is conceptual versions of contemporary pop tunes done in wild time signatures.
Check out his take on "Take 5", he does it in 4/4 time! He also does "Georgy Girl" in 5/4 & "Happy Together" in 15/8 time! Also check out Emil Richard's
Journey To Bliss LP... MAD STUFF!!!

Frances and Her Friends performed by Frances Faye
|
| |
| | : Fantastic to see a Frances Faye recommendation here. I'm a huge, huge fan of her work, although oddly enough I only picked up 'Caught in the act' quite recently. Have you heard the album she did with Russ Garcia on Verve - 'In Frenzy'? Amazing stuff - wild bongo-ridden, brassy, dramatic takes on mostly Latin standards. An incredible performer - I wish I'd been around to catch one of her performances! : Frenzy is one of Faye's best studio albums. Garcia really brings out Faye's unique sound by contrasting it with such strong Latin flavor. I don't know anything else that sounds like it. I am glad you found "Caught in the Act" that is my favorite Faye. Her later concerts were even more wild.

| | : Nice choice!I always liked this song too but could'nt get anyone to pay much attention to his work. One of the more social/politically charged soul jazz records.Cherished by hip-hoppers for years, and sampled quite a bit.Needs to stand again on it's own merits!
