An Angel Is Love performed by The Bob Crewe Generation Orchestra
| |
| | : Its hard to pick just one track off an LP thats this good. It took me ten years to track down my copy, and I had to pay full collectors price for it, but it was worth every penny.
By the way, I don't think thats Bob singing, is it? He sings on one of his other LP's and its not too, er, memorable. : According to the liner notes, "Bob Crew was persuaded by producer Dino de Laurentiis to sing on the wonderful end cue, 'An Angel is Love'."
But I haven't listened to his other songs, so I can't say it's definitely his voice, though... : Liner notes, blimey. Top song even so. : truly great song. but i have to say, that i like the theme tune more. but it's maybe because i only listen to it while watching the intro with jane fonda undressing. best intro scene of a movie ever! and jane is supersexy, isn't she?!
candy!! : Does anyone know where could download mp3s of the Babarella soundtrack? Any other recomendations welcome. : It's in print on Harkit Records. Here's one of many places you can buy it: http://www.moviegrooves.com/shop/barbarella.htm. : probably my favourite soundtrack ever. has to agree with heinmukk though, the title tune is better. the version in the actual movie is a bit different from the soundtrack version, probably worth ripping from the dvd if you can get your hands on it. I also love the track "fight in flight", it probably has one of the coolest combos of funk guitars and string arrangements there is.... theres a rerelease of the album with some bonus tracks by the young lovers out, (some pretty standard easy listening cover versions of existing tracks, nice if you're a completist though.) dont remember wich label its on though.

Pink Frost performed by The Chills
| | : I saw The Chills at my first ever gig in March 1990. They were really good actually, but somehow I never followed up and bought any of their records. I will have to check this one out. Playing at the same show were McCarthy, whose records I did buy, and who became Stereolab.

2002 - A Hit Song performed by The Free Design
| |
| | : heh..brilliant commentary. : Wow. I never thought of that song as such an exploded schematic. But it does shed light on their own self awareness even if unintentional at the time.

Flying Up Through The Sky performed by The Oxfords
| | : This is gorgeous! Great title, too. I've never heard of this band before. : YES! The Oxfords have three of my favorite Sunshine Pop tracks: Flying Up through the sky, My world and Lighter than air... all great sunshine pop... however be warned much of the rest of the album seems to my ears to be fairly awkward Blues rock attempts that just don't work to my ears.... but those three tracks are Sunshine Pop perfection!

We Could Be Flying performed by The Singers Unlimited w/ Art Van Damme
| | : I only ever heard this once - been looking for it ever since. It's truly lovely.
I should say that Scott Walker does a really nice version of the song on his much-maligned (but actually pretty OK - albeit covers only) LP Any Day Now.

Flying Dutchman performed by Tori Amos
| |
| | : Hmmm... I always thought your name was a reference to the great jazz label. They put out some of their best records in the early 70's... I do however acknowledge and accept the origin of your name despite my unwillingness!
