It's a Steal  performed by Edwyn Collins  1997
Composed by Collins

The opening track of Edwyn's usually-overlooked follow-up to 1994's "Gorgeous George", this song is a perfect example of what orchestral pop should be.

from I'm Not Following You, available on CD (Epic)

Off and Running  performed by Lesley Gore  1965
Composed by Sager-Wine

Here's a really cool one. This is Lesley Gore doing a cover of the Mindbenders' stomping mod classic "Off and Running", which originally appeared on the "To Sir, With Love" soundtrack. This version completely outpaces the original, in my opinion.

from the single Off and Running (Mercury)
available on CD - Sunshine, Lollipops & Rainbows: The Best of Lesley Gore (Rhino)

B-I-N-G-O  performed by Ned Towns  1966
Composed by Ned Towns

Comparing the love of a girl to winning a game of bingo...who'd a-thunk it? A really nice uptempo soul tune. I don't have any info on this guy, and as far as I can tell, this is the only thing he ever recorded. The flipside to the seminal ballad "How Can You Baby-Sit a Man?".

from the single B-I-N-G-O (Atlantic)

Chain of Fools  performed by Jimmy Brown  1968
Composed by Don Covay

Absolutely stunning hammond version of the Don Covay/Aretha classic on this label out of Nashville. Another guy that I know nothing about.

from the single Chain of Fools (A-Bet)

A Losing Battle  performed by The Sims Twins  1964

Killer New Orleans r&b with a great piano line supplied by none other than Mac Rebbenack (Dr. John).

from the single A Losing Battle (Omen)
