Soul Love  performed by David Bowie  1972
Recommended by geezer [profile]

Only someone with the Eclectic curiosity of Bowie could conjure up a "rock smaba" it sways like the Girl from from Ipanema but bristles with a mod-ish cool and English edginess.

from Ziggy Stardust (RCA), available on CD

Road to Happiness  performed by the Lilac Time   1989
Recommended by geezer [profile]

A melancholic slice of tranquility, little in the way of instrumentation save for an accordion, and some percussion and acoustic guitar,so sad and lonely it makes you feel better about yourself and the drone like melody will stay in your head long after your gone .

from The Lalac Time
available on CD - The Liac Time

21st Century Schizoid Man  performed by King Crimson  1969
Recommended by SolarLuna96 [profile]

Nice and heavy, love the solo, the distorted vocals, everything.

from In the Court of the Crimson King

21 Oct 10 ·Mike: I always liked Moonchild, also from the first album, and felt it influenced the early seventies Genesis sound.
City Lights   performed by Alan Price   1974
Recommended by geezer [profile]

A relection on the cycle of drudge associated with being poor and ordinary .Its musical setting is not a million miles away from a post beatles McCartney, great chorus and strings back up this plaintive non sentimantal ballad.

from Between Today and Yesterday
available on CD - Between Today and yesterday

righteous wrong  performed by jim jones revue  2010
Recommended by patlallyjack [profile]

raw primal rock n roll, the way it should be played. This is my current favourite track but you won't go far wrong with any jim jones revue track!

from burn your house down
