C'est Pas De Ma Faute  performed by Brigitte Fontaine
Recommended by djfreshmoney [profile]

Great loungey beat that's dying to be sampled. This is early Brigitte Fontaine and it reminds the folks at Dusty Groove of early Serge Gainsbourg. I agree. Cool upbeat jazzy beat with emotive singing. Wish I spoke French. The only problem with this song is that it's too short.

from 17 Chansons Dcadentes

02 Feb 04 ·jeanette: Ha! If you think this song is too short, you wanna catch the Vous Et Nous album with Areski: millions of songs, most clocking in under 3 mins, many under 1. And they look like primary school teachers on the cover. Good call; brilliant tune.
Pas Gentille  performed by Franoise Hardy
Recommended by djfreshmoney [profile]

Guitar strummin', laid back tune from Franoise Hardy. Cool, bluesy.

available on CD - The Vogue Years

Bass in action  performed by Tonio Rubio  1973
Recommended by whoops [profile]

French library music at its best, Bass in action is a Quincy Jones' Hummin' look a like.
One of the many buried treasure of the golden seventies.

from Rhythms
available on CD - Stereo ultra volume 3 (Sirocco)

Mnilmontant  performed by Charles Trenet
Recommended by PappaWheelie [profile]

Smooth voiced crooning from the pre-World War II era of Chanson Francaise. Much more infectious than most of the era.

available on CD - Cocktail Hour-Charles Trenet (COLUMBIA RIVER ENT. GROUP)

Et Moi Et Moi Et Moi  performed by Jaques Dutronc
Recommended by PappaWheelie [profile]

60's French Beat with a inescapable riff and an overwhelming swagger in Dutronc's vocal delivery.

available on CD - Best of Jacques Dutronc (BMG)

03 Feb 03 ·Fig Alert: I've got a track that's just like this, but it's called Et moi, et toi, et soie, and it's on a questionable compilation called Ultra Chicks: Baby Pop, Vol. 3. A seemingly teen french pop sensation named Clo belts it and I've always liked it.
06 Feb 03 ·standish: This song was also rejigged into "Alright, Alright, Alright" by Mungo Jerry, a big British bubblegum rock hit in 1973. I think it kept the Dutronc/Lansmann writing credit.
