Aquarius  performed by Cilla Black  1969

This is a great version of the song from 'Hair', when I first bought the Cilla album from which this came, this for me was intially the stand-out track. Its a very powerful version and Cilla really does justice to it.

from Surround Yourself With Cilla (Parlophone)
available on CD - The Essential Cilla Black 1963-78 (EMI)

Just a magical moment in OST history..

from Midnight Cowboy

26 May 09 ·FlyingDutchman1971: I agree... a magical moment in soundtrack history. I have a German pressing of the album, it is titled, "Asphalt Cowboy". I guess the creators didn't think the connotation of "Midnight" would translate well...
Riverman  performed by Nick Drake  1969

The most beautiful song ever recorded ,hard to qualify, hard to measure,i know ,but one listen of this gentle folk infused languid samba will convince and convert.
Everything on this is right, the apologetic vocal, the crying strings and a portentous forboding lyric, everything seems to move along at a rivers pace.it could last for two minutes or two hours, its effect on your senses would still be divine

from Five Leave Left
available on CD - Five Leaves Left

21st Century Schizoid Man  performed by King Crimson  1969

Nice and heavy, love the solo, the distorted vocals, everything.

from In the Court of the Crimson King

21 Oct 10 ·Mike: I always liked Moonchild, also from the first album, and felt it influenced the early seventies Genesis sound.
1969  performed by The Stooges  1969

Iggy sings about, what else, 1969. What an awesome way to kick off one of the greatest debut recordings of that whole decade, with kick-ass wah-wah guitar playing by Ron Asheton and a pulsating drum beat by brother Scott.

from The Stooges, available on CD (Elektra)
