first thing  performed by joop scholten  1972

very first Dutch latin funk song on great latin album with haunting melodies...recorded in november 1972

from guitar man

10 Dec 04 ·n-jeff: Yeah, theres an amazing Dutch latin thing going on, isn't there? It was amazingly cheeky of Soul Jazz to put "Jungle Fever" on the "Barrio Nuevo" compilation, implying it came out of New York. Have to keep a lookout for Joop Scholten, then.

Dutch pop is where it's at.

One of the best 80's songs, and hard to think of anything that more neatly sums up the decade - named after a cocktail, plenty of synth effects, that slight tinniness endemic to all the greatest 80's pop. I'm sure a lot of you will remember this song, and hopefully with affection. Mai Tai had the un-popstar names Caroline, Mildred and Jetty, and they pissed on Five Star.

That track is full of expression. The gitar sound, i feel it in my hole body.

Focus II  performed by Focus  1971

The second in a series of instrumental tracks all sharing the same name as the band which appeared on different albums by them.

What do I like about it? I like the fact that I have the same feeling some of the best Genesis gives me that these guys have really absorbed some of what I find appealing about classical music and fused it with something rocky.

from Moving Waves (EMI)

Sensorium  performed by Epica  2003

Symphonic Metal. Wonderful piano intro and Simone Simons' voice is excellent as always.

from The Phantom Agony, available on CD
