Just about everyone has a favorite version of this song and Blossom Dearie's recording is mine. Sitting quietly at the piano with bass and percussion joining in Blossom maps out the man of her dreams and what she plans to do when she finds him. Another gem from the sadly out-of-print album 'My Gentleman Friend'.

14 Mar 03 ·FlyingDutchman1971: a reliable source tells me that this original album will be released to CD sometime in late 2003.
I just heard John Pizzarelli do a fantastic version of this song at Birdland.
14 Mar 03 ·FlyingDutchman1971: I'll have to check this out. I recently recommended Blossom Dearie's recording of this great song. It is definitely a great composition.
Top DJs/Producers unite to remix favourite classics from the Verve vault. It's the 21st Century spin on Jazz classics. Even if you're not a fan of electronic music, jazz enthusiasts will enjoy this fresh take on these classics. The record is simply chilled to perfection.
14 May 03 ·FlyingDutchman1971: This is a great CD! The track that really stands out for me is the remix of 'Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby' by Dinah Washington.
Okay, I know this is kind of a well known, outplayed song...still, it is a classic...and so much fun to listen to.
"We live for just these twenty years to have to die for the fifty more..."
17 Aug 03 ·FlyingDutchman1971: Great song! The 'Best of Bowie' DVD set features a great live performance of this song from the Dick Cavett show. 17 Aug 03 ·VichyFrance: The best part of the song is the nonsensical ranting that precedes the "ain't there one damn song..." line. Coke-era Bowie was great at that fast paced mumbo jumbo.
There are tracks you really like but you dont always know why, I remember the first time I heard this and I couldnt get it our of my head. Here I am many years later still loving it. If you get a chance get a 'best of Talk Talk' and you will be well rewarded.
04 Dec 03 ·FlyingDutchman1971: Great track! The 12" remix is excellent, and I was happily surprised by Gwen Stefani's recent rendition of this great song. Why didn't I think of recommending this one???!!! Stupid Dutchman... stupid stupid stupid...
