St. Teresa  performed by Joan Osbourne

There's something unbearably beautiful about this song. Like most of my favourites it's got a desperate streak to it, and I consider it one of the best first tracks ever. Joan Osbourne is a woman who really knows how to use her voice; she raises it to the heavens and really communicates on an emotional level with her music. Listening to her is always a draining experience, but this song makes me eager to be drained.

Parallel Universe  performed by Red Hot Chili Peppers

The bass on this song is just incredible, and the lyrics are fantastic. I find this a great song to listen to when I'm really pissed off. It gives me some impetus to go out and change things around.

08 Jul 04 ·Ozmala: Oooh, good choice. I love that song.
The Highwayman  performed by Loreena McKennitt

I almost always cry when I'm listening to this one. McKennitt's voice is amazing, and I think she's done wonderful things with all the poetry she's adapted to music. This one in particular really speaks to me; she's made me feel the poem in ways that I never could while just reading it.

from The Book of Secrets

The Happy Phantom  performed by Tori Amos

I always want to dance to this song, and it's great to sing along to. It reminds me of "Wednesday" in a lot of ways; I just love how the tone changes from upbeat and cheerful to somewhat dark, then back again.

from Little Earthquakes

Sunset Strip Bitch  performed by Eve 6

It makes me laugh. I'm sure that it's supposed to, but oh well. I have a lot of fun listening to this song.

from Horrorscope
