Crazy Dreams  performed by Paul Brady  1983
Composed by Brady

Singer\songwriter Paul Brady deals with Folk music . This song is in my opinion up to the level of Bob Dylan \Neil Young . Its melancholic but still up-beat .I like the lyrics a lot : " Tonight were gonna paint this town, were gonna drink champagne till we both fall down ,we'll find some other crazy dream -tomorrow" . Its hard to explain ,but the song moves me very much, the song is pretentious in some ways , but Bradys simple(but not dull) singing makes it not sum up as such.

from Hard Station, available on CD (Polydor)

Strange Noices  performed by Anja Garbarek  1996
Composed by A.Garbarek

Anja , the daughter of the highly respected Jan Garbarek ,one of the big jazz-dudes in Norway , Anja started to do music after she found that acting was too restricted. On this tune\album she uses her freedom to create dream-like atmospheres.

U can hear her that she is inspired by Laurie Anderson on this tune ,in the way she tells the story. Instrument-wise the tune is very multi-layered and intruiging. I highly recommend it if u like the music of for example Bjrk,Kate Bush etc.

from Balloon Mood, available on CD

Tugboat  performed by Galaxie 500  1988
Composed by Galaxie 500

Guess u can call this a love-song , it manages to be pretty sad and still come through as pretty light-hearted. It doesnt take many hearings before its a classic in your ears. The instrumentalisation (is that even a word lol) is pretty simple ,and yet so very effective.

from Today, available on CD

Sensational Gravity Boy  performed by Guided By Voices  199?
Composed by Bob Pollard

One of my favourite bands .
They play music that is mostly simply produced , sometimes of lazyness i suspect , but most often cause it suits the songs and makes them stand out from the crowd. This is a 2 minute rocker that i totally fell in love with some weeks ago. Its incredibly catchy, rocky and got a lovely distorted vocal on it .

Its found for free on their official homesite too, go check it out :)

http://www.guidedbyvoices.com/ go to Music section , then mp3 , enjoy..

from non album track

Dress  performed by PJ Harvey  1992
Composed by Ellis\Harvey

A wonderful chello is helping making this a very distinct rock song. Polly Jean is on the top of her game in this one ,shes made much more complex songs later on , it seems like this song comes so natural for her ,like others breathe and feed-she let this tune slip from her body like giving birth ,errrrrr maybe not Exactly like that eh,but im sure u get the idea. Its from her very first album.

from Dry, available on CD

06 Aug 05 ·Durruti: A fantastic song. Acoustic live version, from Peel Sessions is probably even better.
