Bubbles  performed by The Free Design  1970
Composed by Christopher Dedrick

Sunshine Pop in the same vein as "Up, Up and Away" by The 5th Dimension of "The Rain, The Park, and Other Things" by The Cowsills...but Bubbles has a smidgen of funk in the drums and bassline. This track was also covered recently on the 'Powerpuff Girls' soundtrack.

from Stars/Time/Bubbles/Love (Project 3)
available on CD - Bubbles (Siesta)

18 May 02 ·Sem Sinatra: This is the undoubted King of Sunshine Pop ... how can you possibly top the follwing: "My tummy has a little pain, when does Jesus come again?"
31 Jul 04 ·charlesives: Notice the wacked out time signature in the hook. They shave a 16th note off the hook making it a little Mahavishnu-esque. A couple of years before Mahavishnu of course.
Laissez Faire  performed by Gichy Dan  1979
Composed by August Darnell

An August Darnell penned song that rivals much of the prestigious 'Dr. Buzzard' catalog. Smooth, tropical, moderate-tempo late 70's Cosmopolitan-Disco tune with wordly lyrics...and Lordes Cotto on vocals!

from Gichy Dan's Beachwood #9 (RCA)

Fato Consumado  performed by Djavan  1976
Composed by Djavan

Samba do Brasil that demonstrates how 3 different lyrical rhythms can make a wonderful tapestry.

from A Voz e o Violo (Gala)
available on CD - Flor de Lis (Warner)

Bicho do Mato  performed by Elis Regina
Composed by Elis Regina

Many may already be aware of this samba due to Walter Wanderly's space-age tinged organ instrumental version, but Elis's original vocal version is far more powerful with relentless horn blasts. It also demonstrates her range of emotions put into the performance as she goes from delicate to belting.

available on CD - Samba Soul '70! (Six Degrees)

16 Aug 06 ·ambassador: I believe the original version (by anybody) is on Jorge Ben's "Ben e Samba Bom" on philips from the mid 60s.
Et Moi Et Moi Et Moi  performed by Jaques Dutronc
Composed by Dutronc

60's French Beat with a inescapable riff and an overwhelming swagger in Dutronc's vocal delivery.

available on CD - Best of Jacques Dutronc (BMG)

03 Feb 03 ·Fig Alert: I've got a track that's just like this, but it's called Et moi, et toi, et soie, and it's on a questionable compilation called Ultra Chicks: Baby Pop, Vol. 3. A seemingly teen french pop sensation named Clo belts it and I've always liked it.
06 Feb 03 ·standish: This song was also rejigged into "Alright, Alright, Alright" by Mungo Jerry, a big British bubblegum rock hit in 1973. I think it kept the Dutronc/Lansmann writing credit.
