This is an R&B song that I first heard on BET. It begins with the hand claps from the song "Car Wash" and then goes into a typically groovy R&B dance song. I like it so much because it is very easy to dance to and the lyrics are about a girl going to a club and wanting to get her groove on while the guy she came with just stands there "like he's much too cool." This is typically how I feel when I go out. Hand claps continue throughout the song.

19 May 02 ·MMMp: Just thought I'd add; the comment, "this is how I typically feel when I go out," is a borrowed line. I've read the same comment about the Pizzicato Five song "Love Love Song" (A Television's Workshop e.p., TRIAD 1994, Japan) and I think I wanted to put it to use for myself, but it seems an awkard fit now. I don't typically question why anyone came out if they're not dancing, I'm just eager to dance, and that is the same feeling behind the song, a nice conflict of expectations that maybe we've all felt before. It's nice!
This song would be better recognized as the instrumental version of "A New Song," available on the LP and cd, where a synthesizer has been added in place of vocals giving the song a whole new sound that is an entirely different type of sophistication.

A nice cover song as Towa Tei (SRATM) will do. I haven't heard the original but would like to. This one is in the two-step style which I am also unfamiliar with except through Towa Tei's interpretations. An excellent song. "Girly" as TT songs with vocals can be. Dancy as TT songs usually are. Commentary from some Jamaican/British type (!) and breaks down into a remix of itself toward the end - but in a very respectable fashion! -- I recently found out that this CD features copy protection, funny enough that kind of changed the way I felt about it. I want to make it clear that for that reason I can't recommend that anyone buy this album. ;)
guitar reminds me (perhaps a sample from) of the smith's "last night at the fair" (I don't think that's actually the title, but track 1 on meat is murder). kind of lo-fi sounding. a lot of fun, but with a serious note- "we're gonna take off of us the 500kilo weight of our soul"

I could recommend anyything from the TV Jesus album "Oh! Jesus!" and the accompanying singles, from which this song comes, but I choose this one because of it's singular use of what I want to call "alt-guitars" as in alternative sounding, raining down emo-guitar type effect. It's neat in this T.V. Jesus song which strays a little from the GlamPopRock sound.
