hmmmmm...if i had to qualify it now, I would say literate singer songwriter (John Hiatt, Elvis Costello, Francis Dunnery, Martin Sexton) with a serious nod to the bands I loved back in the day - The Replacements, Fugazi, Soul Asylum, Faith No More, The Clash, Rites of Spring and the list goes on and on and on
