This song spits at you with great Chilton guitar and vocal. Great harmonica too.

ok, so it's two tracks, and can't really be called a song, very prog in its construction, real whisper to a scream stuff and some of Robert Fripps finest work, lyrical and savage. Fantasticaly clean production as well. Reminds me of slint. the marimba intro to the first track's a bit unneccesary though.

I know, one is supposed to defer to the Eno-epoch Roxy Music, (and the first two LPs are the end of the world), but this may well be the band's most serene momment. Bryan Ferry is at the top his game here - his vocals are heavenly, his lyrics are brilliantly/brutally witty. Add the floating layers of "Melody Nelson" damaged strings and the effect is dazzling.

This has a country-western kind of swing to it - the type of song Waylon Jennings might do. It seems to be about selling a house full of precious memories. Scott manages to sound like a really cool Elvis Presley, that is, with a swagger Elvis had but without Elvis's annoying mannerisms. For me, Scott's forte has been moody ballads, but he shows here that he can pull off country western too.

Here's another recommendation from the great third "Canto Morricone" compilation. After Milva, Mireille Mathieu was the second artist to record a whole album of Morricone songs and this song was no rearrangement of a film song but exclusivley penned by Morricone for Mathieu and also conducted by Il Maestro himself. Mathieu is in excellent form here and the arrangement is as good as you'd expect from Morricone. Bear Family Records did a fantastic job here, including 7 songs by Mathieu, 4 of them have previously only been available on singles, two of these songs, "Nata libera" and "Quando verranno i giorni" were even transfered from vinyl since the original mastertapes couldn't be retrieved. Kudos to Bear Family Records for this great effort.
